Overview

In July 2022, Lloyds Banking Group made history by opening the first Changing Places facility in a UK bank, located at their Old Broad Street office in London. This milestone, driven by Accessibility Manager Ross Hovey, reflects Lloyds’ commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for both staff and the public.

The project posed significant challenges, including limited access in a busy London location and structural modifications needed for the facility. Innova Care Concepts, working with Wates Group, addressed these challenges by installing a fully compliant Changing Places toilet. This includes an AirRise200 hoist system, a height-adjustable changing bench, an electric shower, and other essential features designed to enhance accessibility.

The installation was completed at night to avoid disrupting office operations. Innova’s solution included creating a structural pattress to support the hoist system and adapting existing plumbing. The new facility not only meets regulatory standards but also ensures that Lloyds Banking Group is setting a new standard in accessibility within the banking sector.

Lloyds’ next Changing Places facility is planned for Canons Way in Bristol, continuing their commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
