The Benefits of a Stainless Steel Therapy Pool

Posted on 12 April 2017 By Aaron Stretton

Our bespoke hydrotherapy pools aren’t made out of stainless steel just because it looks good — although that is a huge benefit. People do often wonder why we use stainless steel over traditional concrete pools that are tiled; the reasons are simple and there are plenty of benefits! So if you’re looking to invest in a stainless steel hydrotherapy pool, here are just a few of the benefits.

1/ It looks great

As we mentioned above, our stainless steel pools look incredibly impressive in any healthcare environment. The sleek, reflective surface of the steel gives a sense of relaxation and calmness — exactly what you need to focus on your physiotherapy session or simply for a good swim. Our hydrotherapy pools are completely bespoke and made-to-measure so that they’re exactly as you want them to be. They can also be fitted with additional features like water jets, coloured lights, wave systems, and waterfalls and canyons. And with stainless steel handrails and fixings to compliment the structure, it will look a lot smarter than a traditional tiled pool.

2/ Long-lasting & leak-proof

Stainless steel is completely water-tight. Because the pool is cast and installed in one-piece, there are no edges or corners that are vulnerable to deterioration and subsequent leaks. The rigidity of stainless steel makes it a lot more long-lasting and corrosion-resistant. This also makes stainless steel particularly cheap to look after, again saving time and money. We also offer servicing and maintenance on all our Innova pools, just for some extra peace of mind.

3/ Cheap, quick and easy to install

You might not think this considering how great stainless steel hydrotherapy pools look, but they’re reasonably priced and more cost-effective than traditional concrete pools. Because they’re cast in one complete mould, stainless steel pools can be craned in with ease and don’t need any extra faff or assembly when on-site. This also means that you’re not reliant on other external factors (e.g.- weather) that can sometimes hold up concrete pool installations, which will therefore because costlier in the long-run.

4/ Better for infection control

Have you even gone swimming and noticed how discoloured, and sometime mouldy, the grouting between the tiles is? This area is particularly susceptible to bacteria growth, which is detrimental to maintaining good levels of infection control.

Of course, with a stainless steel pool, that isn’t an issue. The smooth completely intact surface doesn’t have any nooks or crannies where bacteria can harbour. Stainless steel is also better for health environments because it is much tougher and more difficult to scratch and damage. This is precisely why it’s used in surgical equipment and such. Having a stainless steel hydrotherapy pool ensures easier infection control than a tiled model.

Summary

Stainless steel hydrotherapy pools might seem to only have skin-deep benefits, but they actually offer many other cost and maintenance benefits. Aside from the health aspect, stainless steel structures are more low maintenance, less expensive, and last a lot longer. A win-win situation in our eyes!
