Overview

Alastair H, who has cerebral palsy, required innovative home adaptations and an extension to meet his evolving needs. As he is heavily dependent on his powered wheelchair, Alastair and his family sought to create a “forever home”, that would be future-proofed with the right equipment. To assist with transfers from his wheelchair to his hydrotherapy pool, Innova were brought in by architects, France+Associates, to design and install a tailored hoisting system.

A key aspect of the project was maintaining the home’s aesthetic. Alastair and his family wanted the equipment to blend seamlessly into their homely environment. Working closely with the architects, Innova proposed an AirGlide360 X-Y system with parallel rails, discreetly inset into the ceiling. This design not only preserved the room’s subtle appearance, but also provided additional hoisting height, making pool transfers smoother and more efficient for Alastair.

To further enhance Alastair’s independence, Innova installed an AirGlide360 transit coupling, connecting the pool room to his adapted bathroom for easy access. His bathroom now offers maximum mobility with an X-Y hoist providing full room coverage. Additionally, Innova supplied a wall-mounted Geberit Aquaclean Mera Classic wash-dry toilet. This advanced hygiene solution features cleansing shower jets and warm air-drying technology, delivering effective, comfortable cleansing.
