Shrewsbury’s largest shopping centre, Darwin Shopping Centre, embarked on a £2 million refurbishment to enhance accessibility and inclusivity for all visitors. The project, led by Shropshire Council, focused on updating facilities, including the addition of a new Changing Places restroom.
Innova Care Concepts was engaged to design and install this state-of-the-art facility, featuring an AirRise200 hoist system, height-adjustable wash basins, a height-adjustable changing bench, and a retractable privacy screen. The redesigned middle level of the shopping mall now includes new floor tiles, warm colors, and improved way-finding signage to ensure ease of use. The new Changing Places facility meets compliance standards and offers a modern, welcoming environment. Kevin Lockwood, Shrewsbury Shopping Centre Manager, praised the transformation, noting its significant positive impact on accessibility and visitor experience.
