Overview

NHS Wales received funding for new hospitals to cover the increased demand in local areas, including The Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran. This new 560-bed hospital needed to provide all kinds of care to cover South East Wales, focusing on complex critical care. The aim was to have fully kitted-out facilities that would allow healthcare professionals to carry out their jobs with ease for both themselves and the patients.

Innova was awarded the contract to provide overhead hoist systems for the new facility, thanks to our inventive design. We worked alongside BDP Architects to create environments that would deliver on all fronts whilst maximising infection control measures – a key quality in complex care wards. Our X-Y hoist systems were the solution, providing full room coverage with tracking inset to the ceiling. This minimised the areas that bacteria and infection could cling to between patients.

Our team even delivered a demonstration to the NHS Trust showing how our systems would work in their brand-new hospital. Ultimately, Innova was the only company that could supply and install a large number of single-unit systems that could lift to 500kg in weight.

In total, we supplied and installed 47 overhead hoist systems in the critical care unit, providing transferring capabilities to potentially thousands of patients. The project was completed ahead of schedule and handed over to the client with no defects.
