Overview

Herlev Hospital, Denmark’s tallest building at 390 feet, has significantly enhanced its care quality through extensive renovations, including two new buildings and a new wing. The hospital faced a challenge in optimizing bed cleaning for sustainability and infection control, transitioning from manual to automated processes.

Innova’s partner, Weber Hospital Systems, provided a solution with their Bed Washing System, allowing Herlev Hospital to become the world’s first facility to fully automate the storage, cleaning, and disinfection of beds. This system cleans 300 beds per day using high-temperature steam, reducing manual cleaning time from 15 minutes to just 6 minutes per bed. The installation includes two Bed Washing Systems, a storage area for over 130 beds, and a ‘fast lane’ for urgent cleaning needs. This innovation has improved efficiency, cut maintenance staff by 20%, and supports Herlev’s sustainability goals.
