Overview

The Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability (RHN), a charity-run hospital specializing in the care of individuals with brain injuries, approached Innova in 2015 with a unique challenge: to make their hospital environment feel welcoming and non-clinical while maintaining clinical excellence. Innova responded by installing discreet, high-quality equipment across multiple wards, focusing on creating a calm and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere for patients with severe neurological disabilities.

To achieve this, Innova installed the Integralift, a hidden hoist system, and inset H-frame ceiling track hoists. These systems were chosen for their subtle design, which minimizes noise and visual disruption, helping to foster a more homely and relaxed environment. In addition to their aesthetic benefits, these systems were designed with infection control in mind. The Integralifts are wipeable and detergent-safe, while the inset H-frame systems are easy to clean and gather minimal bacteria, making them ideal for a healthcare setting.

The project was carried out in two stages, allowing RHN to keep one ward open for patient care while the other was being refurbished. By the end of the project, Innova had installed a total of 24 H-frame systems and 51 Integralifts across various wards, the physiotherapy department, and the gym, transforming the hospital into a space that feels both supportive and reassuring for its patients.

In particular, the Draper Ward received 19 Integralifts and 4 H-frame systems, while the Evitt and Cathcart Wards were equipped with 17 and 15 Integralifts, respectively, alongside additional H-frame systems. These installations have significantly enhanced the hospital’s ability to provide a comfortable, non-clinical environment without compromising on functionality or hygiene.
