Yusef has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, profound and multiple disabilities (PMLD) following complications at birth. Due to the nature of those conditions, Yusef is wheelchair dependent and his personal care is provided by family members and carers. To help Yusef have more independence, his family needed support in extending and adapting an existing property to create a fully accessible home.
As part of this project that was led by architects, France + Associates, Innova were enlisted for their experience in hoisting design and installation, as well as their range of hygiene equipment for accessible bathrooms. To give Yusef flexibility and freedom around his home, Innova installed AirGlide 360 hoist tracking throughout the home with AirRise 200 hoist units to enable him to safely transfer between rooms. These include hoisting systems situated in the living room, bathroom and bedroom, as well as suites that house sensory and hydrotherapy facilities. This sophisticated hoisting package with inset tracking not only delivered a subtle aesthetic, it also reduced the risk of strain injuries for his family and care team.
For his adapted bathroom, Innova supplied a Pressalit 3000 Changing Bench and a height-adjustable Matrix wash basin, enhancing comfort and making hygiene routines easier. An AirGlide360 ceiling hoist track with an AirRise 200 hoist unit was also installed, helping Yusef to have smooth transfers between his bathroom and bedroom.
