Innova Awarded Hoisting Contracts for Hospital and Care Home in Orkney

Posted on 15 February 2018 in Patient Hoist Equipment

Innova Care Concepts is happy to announce that it has been chosen to supply and install over 40 hoist systems to NHS Orkney’s Balfour Hospital and St Peter’s House Care Home in Orkney, Scotland.

These latest contract wins follow Innova’s successful £850,000 bid to supply hoists to Midland Metropolitan Hospital in Birmingham.

With the hoist systems providing flexible transfers and accessibility across bariatric rooms, operating theatres, and a Changing Place, Innova was chosen for their ability to deliver simple, smart solutions that would cater to a variety of patients’ needs.

Bob Oliver, Innova’s hoisting specialist said:

“It’s important to remember that not all areas of the UK have easy access to high-quality healthcare, it’s great to see the NHS investing in more remote locations like Orkney. It’s certainly brought up a new challenge for us in getting our equipment and installations team to Orkney and back!

“We liaised with the clients for a long time before being awarded the contracts. We held many consultation sessions right from the beginning to discuss their needs and how the hoist systems would be used. The systems we’re supplying will actually be the only hoists on the islands, which is quite extraordinary!”

Innova’s unique and innovative hoist tracking and units will be able to facilitate safe and easy transfers across the hospital and the care home, will some units able to lift over 260kg. Both Balfour Hospital and St Peter’s House are being replaced with new-build facilities that are both due for completion in 2019.

The healthcare equipment suppliers were first introduced to both projects by Keppie and Young & Gault Architects who are working on each site. Innova’s patented products and ability to deliver high-quality service as far as Orkney led to it being awarded both contracts.

Innova’s CEO, Tom Hulbert, said:

“At Innova, we’re always pushing ourselves to go the extra step and reach farther than before — and we’ve done that quite literally with these Orkney projects. It will be great to see our hoists and tracking in both facilities, and our team looks forward to working in Orkney.”

Innova’s installation team will begin work at Balfour Hospital in February 2018 with the project due for completion early in 2019. They will also work on St Peter’s House through the summer of this year with that being ready to finish in summer 2019.

Founded with the mission to enhance quality of life through innovation, Innova has sourced and supplied cutting-edge healthcare equipment that marries functionality and aesthetics. Their product range is used across a range of healthcare environments including NHS and private hospitals, hospices, care homes, and even SEN schools.
