Innova Wins Midland Met Hospital Hoisting Contract

Posted on 31 July 2017 in News, Patient Hoist Equipment

Innova Care Concepts is proud to announce that it will be supplying a number of hoisting systems to the new state-of-the-art Midland Met Hospital in Birmingham.

Thought to be the second largest hoisting contract ever made in the UK, Innova will be providing a total of 277 hoist units across 313 rooms. This includes coverage over 44 multibed bays and 36 bariatric rooms.

Bob Oliver, hoisting specialist at Innova said:

“The Midland Met Hospital project is an outstanding achievement for Innova as it highlights to the global healthcare industry that our innovative solutions are key to solving the challenges that this sector has faced for years.

“The client wanted a solution that could give them wide flexibility as to how the hoist units could be used. They wanted hoists that could be used for standard in and out of bed transfers, but also for physiotherapy and other activities that traditional hoisting systems don’t always cater to. With 669 acute care beds, Midland Met needed numerous hoisting systems that could facilitate safe lifts for every patient, and we can provide that.”

Innova’s patented hoisting equipment and systems will provide comfortable, safe transfers for patients across the hospital with some hoisting systems capable of lifting up to 382kg. They secured the contract because of their unique curtain solution, which allows a hoist unit to be shared between beds and pass over curtain rails with ease.

Emma Loosely, Senior Commissioning Manager at Midland Metropolitan Hospital said:

“Innova’s innovative design solution was able to fulfil our requirements and utilise a single motor unit, shared between individual bed spaces, to meet the challenge of coordinating the ceiling track with the curtains around the bed space whilst maintaining patient privacy and dignity. By sharing motor units between bed spaces, the Trust has less units within a 4-bed bay minimising the impact for patients within that space, it also means fewer motor units to maintain and test annually.”

Established with the intent to combine aesthetics and functionality in healthcare equipment, Innova have created some of the subtlest, most effective hoists and furniture in the sector. Their products are developed specifically for easy-usage in some of the most demanding environments in the world — hospitals.
